Meet Kim Poe Gilliam

Kim Gilliam grew up in Hopkins County. She graduated from West Hopkins High School and Western Kentucky University.  She received her Juris Doctor from Chase College of Law.  Kim has actively served within the courts and her community – she has been fortunate to help many people through her work and community involvement.

While in private practice, Kim gained extensive courtroom experience and trial experience in both District and Circuit courts.  She has practiced in the Federal Court system.  Kim has experience on both sides of the bench having served as Domestic Relations Commissioner through appointments by two Hopkins Circuit Judges.  She also worked as staff attorney for the Family Court Judges in Hopkins County and Christian County conducting settlement conferences, pretrial conferences and assisting in various other ways.  She is a trained and experienced mediator.  Early in her career, Kim worked at Kentucky Legal Aid where she assisted financially qualifying individuals and families throughout Western Kentucky.

Kim is very active in her community.  She and her husband, Steve, are actively involved in their local church.  She currently serves on the executive committee for the Hopkins County Long Term Recovery committee assisting in the recovery of the tornado aftermath.  She serves on the Board of Directors for the Door of Hope and Plans4U.  She is a member of the Dawson Springs Rotary Club and Woman’s Club of Madisonville.  She has served on teams for the Great Banquet and Chrysalis communities.

Kim has deep roots in Hopkins County.  Her mother, Elaine Poe, taught school in Hopkins County for 40 years.  Her father, Ruby W. Poe, is retired from the railroad and lives in the Dawson Springs area.  She and her husband, Steve, a retired educator, live in Madisonville. They have two grown children.
